10/21/08 - Well, show season is officially over. We all enjoyed ourselves and the horses performed well and everyone did a great job improving over the season. We've gotten award notifications for Suzanne, Ella, Graham, Anita, Tammy, and Meagan. We don't know where they placed for year end, but they did place!!! How exciting!! We'll have to wait for the banquet to find out! ---- go look at the photo gallery for a slide show of the year! ----
9/23/08 - We are preparing for the last two shows of the season and we're not slowing down! The kids have continued to practice their hearts out in preparation for the end of the show year and they're bound and determined to get those last points in tward year end. Tammy took Thumper and Raz to the Backyard Horse Trials over this past weekend and brought home a 2nd on Raz (the newest lesson horse) in the Walk/Trot division (narrowly missing the blue one) and a 3rd place on Thumper in the Beginner Novice division. Congrats!
8/7/08 - Well, it's been a very busy season so far. We've been showing both Hunter and Dressage at this point and our crew is doing quite well. The kids have been working hard and have finally gotten settled in their jobs when they go to the shows. Again, all the Glory to God for a great and safe season so far!
Laura is showing on Pumpkin Pie in Dressage and has been steadily improving on her skills and adding points to her scores as well! We're very proud of her since she started riding only this spring... she truely shows natural ability!
Suzanne has taken over the work on our new boy Stormy. He has been a bit of a handful since he had only basically been started under saddle when we got him. She's moving him along in both Dressage and Hunter. He definatly has a like of the over fence work and has even gotten a reserve champion!
Meagan has been showing our Delha in Dressage and has finally gotten this showing thing figured out! She has improved her scores from her first show and is really getting a nice seat.
Graham continues to ride better and better. He has been doing both hunter and Dressage and has even gotten a 65% on one of his tests! Amazing since he's only been riding for less than a year! His hunter rides are getting better too.
Ella has continued to persevere on her horse Thumper. They have been working so hard this year and things are starting to pay off! Their Dressage is improving and although she has to work hard, she really rides him and makes him do what she wants. Their ground pole division work is doing well too... and you should see them over cross rails at home... watch out next year!
Anita has been working hard for her first level scores and it's paying off too. She has worked up to a 56.5% at 1st test 2, not an easy task. Cerveza has improved so much with all her efforts, I know thay'll get that 60% soon!
Carlie (2-1/2 yrs old) and her Mom, Cathy, came and did the lead line with us. They are our resident Thursday afternoon playdate and "Mom & Me" riding team. They have had lots of fun with us and really enjoyed the opportunity to come out and play with us at one of the hunter shows. I believe we've got a budding show prospect in the making!
And now just some more show moments....
Special Thanks to Larry Nichols for his efforts to come and tape the Dressage shows for the kids... even in the rain! THANK YOU LARRY!
5/10/08 - We have completed our first show of the season, Stillwater Pony Club's show at Twin Towers Park. God is Good!!! We had a spectacular show and came home with two Reserve Champions and one Champion Ribbon. We are so proud of our ponies and our riders, they all are Superstars!!!
Ella had two wonderful rides on Thumper and got 2-4ths and a 5th and she pushed thru some difficult situations and was very brave and as far as riding was concerned, she outrode every other rider in her division! We are so VERY proud of her! And one of the ribbons is her favorite color, Pink, yeah!
Graham rode Pumpkin Pie and received 2-2nds, a 4th and a 5th plus Reserve Champion in Walk-Trot Crossrails division... it was his first horse show ever and his mother beamed!!! I think we all did!
Suzanne has joined our crew and rode Ginger, aka Miss Busy Body, to 2-3rds and a 4th place in canter crossrails division. She really had to ride, as Ginger thought that it was a speed and action event! We were very proud of her for the first show we've ever had Ginger to and Suzanne hasn't shown for six or so years!
Tammy was the big winner, as she rode Pumpkin to a Reserve Champion in Baby Hunter with 2-2nds and a 3rd plus taking Thumper to a Championship in Novice Hunter division with 2-1st and a 4th!
Jen rode Darby and had some interesting rounds as he was very adverse to the little stone wall and the buckets outside the ring by the judges stand, but came home with 2-2nds and a 4th. The more he gets out the better it will get.
We had a totally blessed day... it really hit home how the Lord has brought us these wonderful horses and these great people into our lives, it's just awe inspiring to me. I thank God for every horse and rider (and support staff of family and friends) that he's given us and for the amazing day that we had!
